Zinc rich primer is a cold galvanising paint for iron and steel; use as a self-finish coating or a durable, weld through rust inhibiting primer beneath many of our top coats. Suitable for all ferrous metals, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, mild steel, cast iron and wrought iron.
Recommended for the protection of: structural steel work; agricultural and construction plant and machinery. Also great for gates, railings, iron, pipework. Helps prevent rust and corrosion where existing galvanised surface has been damaged by cutting or after welding as a weld through primer.
Highlights
- Carbogalv cold galvanising zinc primer paint provides cathodic protection to ferrous metal surfaces
- Protect structural steel work, agricultural and construction plant and machinery, gates, railings, iron pipework and guttering

Our zinc rich primer is a ‘galvafroid’ equivalent. Also known as weld through primer with it’s unique formulation and high quantity of ultra fine premium quality zinc dust. The zinc acts in a sacrificial manner when in direct contact with the iron or steel substrate and providing galvanising properties.
Please note: This primer should not be used on surfaces that have been treated with phosphoric acid.

This seems to be an excellent quality zinc-rich primer – very heavy weight gives a clue – and easy to apply.
