Product Description

ProPlas 2K PU Repair Glue is a 2K adhesive that repairs and bonds plastic parts in the automotive industry. It is a suitable repair glue for parts such as a car bumper or plastic trim, as well as other materials including metal and composites.

ProPlas 2K PU repair is available in three different curing speeds: slow(5 minutes), fast(60 seconds), and rapid(35 seconds). This allows you to assess the application or repair and choose the appropriate curing time accordingly. Please note that only the black adhesive is available in different curing speeds, the clear is only supplied in fast.

The adhesive is supplied as a bi-component cartridge, with a static mixer nozzle that connects to the top of the container. The components in each tube enter the mixer at the same rate, mixing as they travel along the nozzle. This ensures the components are thoroughly mixed before the adhesive is applied to the surface and allows ease of use. After use, the static mixer should be disposed.

Processing:
The strength and durability of bonded joints depend on proper pre-treatment of the surfaces to be bonded. At the very least, joint surfaces should be cleaned with a good degreasing agent like ProCleaner in order to remove all traces of dust, dirt, oil and grease.

Pre-treatment of thermoplastics materials such as PVC, polycarbonate, polypropylene, PMMA, etc., can be made using a mixture of light ethers or with isopropanol. Use of strong solvents is not recommended due to the risk of damage to the plastic surface.

Pre-treatment of other surfaces can be made using acetone or trichloroethylene. Petrol or other solvents should never be used. Where possible, carry out a mechanically abrasion to remove paint from the surfaces (where necessary) and to increase strength and resistance of the adhesion. Let
dry the pre-treated area dry before applying the adhesive.

Product Application:

ProPlas Fast Adhesive is available in bi-component cartridge (side by side).

Mixing should be made through static mixer composed by a minimum of 16 elements. A lower number of components doesn’t allow a complete mixing. A higher number of components would increase speed of the chemical reaction of hardening. Static mixer is disposable.

For best results apply UltraGrip to both side of the repair and allow to dry.

The mixture must be applied directly from the mixer on the pre-treated dry surface. The optimal layer of adhesive that will guarantee the highest resistance for the joint should be at least 0.5 mm thick. The components have to be assembled before the adhesive starts curing and sealed with a steady pressure all over the gluing area.

Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is essential for the success of any protective coating system. Before you begin ensure the area is free from any dust, oil, grease, old coatings and surface contaminants.

The preparation of steelwork prior to painting generally falls into two main areas; that of degreasing and the removal of rust and scale.
All surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material, dust, grease and millscale, etc.
Prime bare surfaces with Palatine Anti-Corrosive Metal Primer or Palatine All Purpose Primer / Undercoat in accordance with our recommendations
For non-ferrous metals use Palatine Fast Dry etching primer.
Rub down previously gloss painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly.

Mixing
Stir the paint with a drill stirrer or wooden baton at least 2” wide. Continue to stir during application.

Application
Best results are obtained in warm (minimum 10°C), dry conditions.

Mix thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes using a drill stirrer. A wooden batten at least 25mm wide is also ideal.
Apply an even coat using a brush, short to medium pile roller on smooth surfaces and a long pile roller on textured surfaces
For spray application by either airless or conventional spray a dilution ration of no more than 10% is recommended with Palatine White Spirit by volume applying thin coats allowing each one to dry before applying subsequent coats.
Once dried, a second coat can be applied at full strength. This will prolong the life and performance of the coating.

Thinning and Cleaning: Use Palatine White Spirit.

If using more than one batch of the same colour, intermix before use

Preceding Coat
Prime bare surfaces with Palatine Anti-Corrosive Metal Primer or Palatine All Purpose Primer / Undercoat in accordance with our recommendations
For non-ferrous metals use Palatine Mordant Solution.

Subsequent Coat
A second coat is recommended for maximum protection.
