Product Description

ProXL Paint Rocket is a premium paint accelerator for use with 2K isocyanate hardeners. It is mainly used to reduce the curing times of 2K paint systems in cold temperatures.

This additive is suitable for use with paints, clearcoats and primers, reducing curing times by 30-50%. It is supplied in a dispenser bottle with an upper dosing chamber. This allows the required amount to be easily measured and added to the hardener without the use of external measuring equipment.

Warning: ProXL Paint Rocket should only be used with slow, standard or fast hardeners. It should never be added to extra-fast hardeners. If an excessive ratio is used, or if used in too warm an environment, there could be a reduction of gloss level in the finished surface.

Mixing guide
Mix ProXL Paint Rocket directly with your isocyanate hardener, add between 10 and 30ml per litre of hardener (1-3%). Once the Paint Rocket is added to your hardener, shake well before adding to your paint.

Directions for use
Loosen the cap and gently squeeze the filled dispenser bottle with one hand, filling the dosing chamber to the required amount. The cap is then removed allowing the measured amount to be dispensed with ease.

Preparation:

To ensure a durable and effective bilge paint application, it’s crucial to properly prepare the surface. Start by cleaning the substrate thoroughly to remove any dirt, grease, or oil. You can use a degreaser or mineral spirits for this step. Next, inspect the surface for any rust or old paint. If present, remove the rust using a wire brush, sandpaper, grinder or suitable rust remover / treatment. For old paint, use a paint stripper or sand it down until you reach the bare metal. Once the surface is clean and free of rust and old paint, sand it with fine-grit sandpaper to create a smooth and slightly roughened surface for better paint adhesion. Finally, wipe down the steel with a clean cloth to remove any dust or debris before applying our rust-inhibitive marine primer. After the primer has dried, you can proceed with applying our high build marine undercoat and then one but preferably two coats of the bilge paint.

Application:

Best results are obtained in warm (minimum 10°C), dry conditions.

Mix thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes using a drill stirrer. A wooden batten at least 25mm wide is also ideal.
Apply an even coat using a brush, short to medium pile roller on smooth surfaces.

For spray application by either airless or conventional spray a dilution ration of no more than 10% is recommended with Palatine White Spirit by volume.
A second coat can be applied at full strength. This will prolong the life and performance of the coating.
For application onto wooden surfaces, a minimum of two coats is recommended.

Drying Time @ 20ºC: Drying times will be extended at low temperatures.
Do not apply when ambient temperature falls below 5ºC or relative humidity exceeds 90%.
Surface dry @ 20ºC: 1 hours
Hard dry @ 20ºC: 4 hours
Overcoat@ 20ºC: After 8 hours (temperature dependent).

Theoretical Coverage: 12 – 14m² per litre.
(Coverage rate can be affected by such variables as type and condition of substrate, type of application equipment and individual method of application.)
Storage: Store in temperature range 5-40ºC

Thinners: White Spirit
