Product Description

Wood Floor Paint is an alkyd paint designed for use on wooden floors in interior and exterior environments. It provides a decorative satin finish to the floor while protecting it from the general wear of foot traffic, such as scuffs and scratches. Our wood floor paint is an ideal way to revitalise your wooden flooring or update the design of a room without having to pay out for new flooring.

Palatine Paints is a manufacturer of paints, not just a supplier. This means we have full knowledge of the paint and it’s properties and can answer any questions you may have before ordering to ensure our wooden floor paint suits your needs.

We can also tint custom colours to match your vision for your wooden flooring. For more information on this service, please contact us through web chat, phone or email.

If you’re looking for a paint for your wooden decking, we also supply a transparent finish decking oil, available in a range of colours that will allow the grain to be seen through the finish for a more natural look.

Wood Floor Paint is also available in black and a range of other colours.

White Wood Floor Paint Application

Preparation: On previously painted surfaces, ensure any flaking material is removed and the surface is sound. Abrade the surface preferably by mechanical abrasion to provide a “key” and maximise
adhesion of the subsequent coating. For surfaces contaminated with mould, mildew, algae and fungi use Barrettine Mould & Mildew Cleaner. For surfaces contaminated with oil & grease remove with a universal degreaser.

Mixing: Stir the paint with a drill stirrer or wooden baton at least 2” wide. Continue to stir during application to avoid thickening of the product.

Application: Apply by brush, roller or spray and work well into the surface. Avoid applying the paint to thickly to avoid delaying drying times. The second and subsequent coats can be applied as soon as the first / preceding coat is dry usually after 12-24 hours, and should be applied within 5 days.

If more than 5 days elapse, the first coat should be lightly abraded before the second coat is applied. Avoid power washing the surface for 7 days.

Wood Floor Paint is touch dry in 3 hours and hard dry in 24 hours, with an expected coverage of 12 – 14m² per litre. For thinning and cleaning, use white spirit.

For full technical, safety and application details, please see the data sheets.

Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently.

Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is essential for the success of any protective coating system. Before you begin ensure the area is free from any dust, oil, grease, old coatings and surface contaminants.

The preparation of steelwork prior to painting generally falls into two main areas; that of degreasing and the removal of rust and scale.
All surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material, dust, grease and millscale, etc.
Prime bare surfaces with Palatine Anti-Corrosive Metal Primer or Palatine All Purpose Primer / Undercoat in accordance with our recommendations
For non-ferrous metals use Palatine Fast Dry etching primer.
Rub down previously gloss painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly.

Mixing
Stir the paint with a drill stirrer or wooden baton at least 2” wide. Continue to stir during application.

Application
Best results are obtained in warm (minimum 10°C), dry conditions.

Mix thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes using a drill stirrer. A wooden batten at least 25mm wide is also ideal.
Apply an even coat using a brush, short to medium pile roller on smooth surfaces and a long pile roller on textured surfaces
For spray application by either airless or conventional spray a dilution ration of no more than 10% is recommended with Palatine White Spirit by volume applying thin coats allowing each one to dry before applying subsequent coats.
Once dried, a second coat can be applied at full strength. This will prolong the life and performance of the coating.

Thinning and Cleaning: Use Palatine White Spirit.

If using more than one batch of the same colour, intermix before use

Preceding Coat
Prime bare surfaces with Palatine Anti-Corrosive Metal Primer or Palatine All Purpose Primer / Undercoat in accordance with our recommendations
For non-ferrous metals use Palatine Mordant Solution.

Subsequent Coat
A second coat is recommended for maximum protection.
