Gun Wash is a professional-grade solvent formulated to dissolve and remove dried paint, lacquer and coating residues from spray application equipment. Designed for industrial and commercial use, it helps clean spray gun nozzles, fluid needles, air caps, hoses and associated lines—supporting consistent spray performance and reducing downtime.
Additionally, you can use it to clean surfaces before painting. In fact, it helps remove cellulose paints effectively. Moreover, this makes it ideal for surface prep work before applying fresh coatings. These include our Fast Dry Metal Primer, Fast Dry Gloss and Fast Dry Semi Gloss paints.
Surface Cleaning: Gun Wash can be used to clean surfaces before painting to ensure they are free from contaminants. It is particularly effective for surface prep work before applying cellulose-based coatings like Fast Dry Gloss.
Safety & Environment:
* Work in a well-ventilated area or outdoors to minimize exposure to solvent vapors.
* Wear appropriate PPE, including chemical-resistant gloves, safety glasses, and respiratory protection if required.
* Flammable: Keep away from all ignition sources and open flames.
Compatibility: Always verify compatibility with your specific coating type on a small, inconspicuous area first. It is generally compatible with acrylics, lacquers, polyurethanes, epoxies, and oil-based enamels however check the data sheets for specific compatibility.
Equipment Cleaning: Specifically designed to dissolve and remove dried paint, lacquer, and coating residues from:
* Spray Gun Components: Nozzles, fluid needles, air caps, and internal passages.
* Application Lines: Hoses, tubing, and delivery systems.
* Tools: Brushes, rollers, and auxiliary equipment.
Method: Use the solvent to flush through spray equipment or as a soak for components to prevent paint build-up and maintain spray pattern consistency.
Removal: Can be used to help remove or thin cellulose-based paints during the cleaning process.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry location (ideally between 10–25°C) away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the container tightly sealed to prevent evaporation.
Post-Use: Allow all equipment to dry completely after cleaning before its next use. Dispose of used solvent and contaminated rags as hazardous waste according to local regulations.
Pack Sizes: 25 Litre.
Gun Wash is ideal for cleaning:
Spray gun components: Nozzles, fluid needles, air caps, and internal passages
Application lines: Hoses, tubing, and delivery systems
Tools and equipment: Brushes, rollers, and auxiliary spray equipment
Industrial settings: Manufacturing facilities, automotive refinishing, coating application workshops
Commercial applications: Maintenance of professional spray systems and production lines
Regular cleaning prevents paint build up, maintains spray pattern consistency, and reduces equipment downtime.
Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use and store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat sources. Please note, evaporation rates will be higher at increased temperatures.
Can be used to help remove/thin cellulose-based paints (such as Fast Dry ranges) during the cleaning process.
This product is specifically designed for the cleaning of paint spraying equipment, guns, and hoses after use.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and heat sources
Keep container tightly sealed when not in use
Store away from incompatible materials and oxidising agents

Q: What is gun wash used for?
A: Gun wash is used to dissolve and remove paint and coating residues from spray application equipment. Typical professional uses include cleaning spray guns in automotive body shops, flushing paint delivery lines in industrial finishing operations, and routine maintenance of spray equipment in manufacturing paint lines to keep spray patterns consistent and reduce downtime.
Q: Is gun wash the same as paint thinner?
A: Not exactly. While both are solvents, gun wash is a specialist spray gun cleaner formulated for cleaning spray equipment and paint lines. It’s not intended to be used as a general-purpose paint thinner for adjusting paint viscosity unless your coating system and process specifically allow it.
Q: How do I use gun wash safely?
A: Use in accordance with the SDS and site procedures. Work in a well-ventilated area, wear appropriate PPE (e.g., solvent-resistant gloves and eye/face protection), and keep away from heat, sparks and open flames as the product may be highly flammable. Store sealed, upright and securely in a suitable, labelled chemical storage area.
Q: Can I use gun wash for other cleaning tasks?
A: It may clean some paint-related tools, but it is a specialist industrial solvent designed for spray gun maintenance. Any other use should be assessed for suitability and safety for the specific material/surface and process.
Q: What equipment can I clean with Gun Wash 25L?
A: Gun Wash 25L is intended for cleaning spray guns and spray application equipment, including nozzles, fluid needles, air caps, internal passages, hoses and associated paint delivery lines (where applicable). Always follow the equipment manufacturer’s cleaning guidance.
Q: Will gun wash damage seals or components in my spray equipment?
A: It’s formulated for professional spray equipment cleaning, but compatibility can vary by seal/material type and the coatings being removed. Check your spray gun manufacturer recommendations and, if unsure, test on a small component or non-critical area first and avoid prolonged soaking where not advised.
