Clear the Space: Remove all furniture and equipment. Use masking tape to protect walls, skirting boards, or fixtures you don’t want painted.
Deep Clean: Sweep and vacuum thoroughly. Use a degreaser or detergent to scrub away oil stains or stubborn grease. The floor must be bone-dry before you start.
Fix Defects: Fill any cracks or holes with a suitable floor filler and sand them smooth once dry.
Old Paint: If the floor was painted before, scrape away anything that is flaking. Sand the remaining old paint to take the shine off; this creates a “key” so the new paint can grab onto it.
Smooth Concrete: If your concrete is very smooth or “shiny,” you should use an etching fluid or sand it down. If water beads up on the concrete instead of soaking in, it’s too smooth to paint.
The “Test Patch”: Paint a small, out-of-the-way square (about 10cm) first. This lets you check that the color is right and that the paint sticks properly to the old surface.
Mix Slowly: Open the tin and stir thoroughly with a wide wooden stick for a couple of minutes. Do not shake the tin, as this creates air bubbles that will ruin the finish.
Keep Stirring: The “grit” that makes it anti-slip tends to sink to the bottom. Give it a quick stir every few minutes while you are working to keep the texture even.
First Coat (Bare Floors): If painting bare concrete for the first time, mix a little white spirit (about 1 part spirit to 4 parts paint) into your first coat. This acts as a sealer to help the paint soak in.
Cutting In: Use a brush to paint the edges and corners first.
Rolling: Use a medium-pile roller for the main area. Work in “W” or “M” patterns to get even coverage. Don’t put it on too thick; two thin coats are much better than one thick, gloopy one.
Second Coat: Wait at least 24 hours before applying the second coat. If you wait longer than 5 days to do the second coat, you’ll need to lightly sand the first coat again to help them bond.
Aftercare:
* Stay Off: You can walk on it after 24 hours, but wait at least 3 days before putting heavy equipment or cars back on it.
* No Washing: Avoid using a hose or power washer on the new floor for the first 7 days.
Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently. Sample pots are available to order upon request. Always carry out a test patch (approximately 100x100mm) before full application
to ensure compatibility with previous coatings and the substrate, and to ensure the colour achieved meets your requirements. Failure to do so will result in a product refund claim not being accepted.

Q: What is Carbogrip Anti-Slip Floor Paint?
A: This is a tough, long-lasting paint used to protect floors while adding a textured surface. It is designed to help prevent slips in areas that might get wet or greasy.
Q: Can I use this on a brand new concrete floor?
A: You should not apply this to newly laid concrete. The concrete needs to be fully cured, which usually takes about 6 months, or at least 4 weeks for certain applications, to ensure the paint sticks properly.
Q: Can I clean the floor once it is painted?
A: Yes, one of the benefits of this paint is that it is easy to clean while still providing a tough, protective finish for your floor.
Q: What should I use to clean my brushes and tools?
A: You should use Palatine White Spirit to clean your brushes and any spills while the paint is still wet.
