Surface Cleaning: Xylene is a high-strength solvent effective for removing paint residues, stains, grease, and other contaminants. For pre-treatment, wipe the surface with a lint-free cloth moistened with the thinner to ensure the area is clean before painting.
Compatibility Check: This is a strong chemical solvent. Only use with solvent-resistant brushes and rollers. Do not use with standard foam rollers, as the solvent can dissolve or damage them.
Safety Setup: Ensure the workspace is well-ventilated. Wear appropriate PPE, including solvent-resistant gloves and eye protection.
Target Paints: Specifically designed for thinning high-performance coatings such as:
* Fast Dry Gloss, Fast Dry Semi-Gloss, and Metal Primers.
* Hammershield (Smooth & Hammered).
* Carbochlor Chlorinated Rubber Paint.
Thinning for Spraying: Always refer to the specific paint’s Technical Data Sheet (TDS) for exact ratios, but typical guidelines are:
* Top Coats: Approximately 1 part thinner to 10 parts paint (10% dilution).
* Primers: Approximately 1.5 parts thinner to 10 parts paint (15% dilution).
Mixing: Add the thinner gradually to the paint while stirring continuously to achieve a smooth, even consistency for spraying or brushing.
Equipment: Ideal for cleaning spray guns, brushes, and metal trays immediately after using oil-based or industrial paints.
Maintenance: After cleaning spray equipment, flush a small amount of clean xylene through the gun to ensure no paint residue remains in the internal valves or nozzles.
Flammability: Xylene is highly flammable with a flash point of approx. 30°C. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and hot surfaces. No smoking during use.
Storage: Store in the original tightly closed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place (ideally between 5°C and 25°C). Keep the container upright to prevent leakage.
Health Hazard: Avoid breathing vapours or spray mist. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting and seek medical medical attention immediately.
Pack Sizes: 1 Litre, 2.5 Litre, 5 Litre, 25 Litre, and 205 Litre.
