Product Description

Hammershield Smooth Paint is a fast drying, decorative and protective direct to metal paint. Easy to use – this solvent borne, top coat, comes in hammered or smooth finish. Also suitable for use on wood, Hammershield Paint is ideal for garden furniture, gates, railings, garage doors and more. Works just as well as a quick way to spruce up garden pots, ornaments and play equipment.

Palatine Hammershield Paint provides a tough decorative coating. While ideal as top coat, this metal paint can be used with Fast Dry Metal Primer for ultimate rust protection.

Why Hammer Finish or Hammerite Paint?

  • Fast drying paint – enables multi coat application in minimal time
  • Direct to metal (DTM) – no need to prime except where surface is poor or superior rust inhibition is required
  • Decorative – available in a smooth or hammered finish
  • Protective – tough and durable finish for both metal and wood applications
  • Competitively priced compared with major brands

If rust is a particular issue, we recommend applying a rust convertor then coating with Hammershield.

Available in 8 attractive shades for interior and exterior metalwork. Equivalent to a well-known major brand, our professional product is only available direct or from selected trade stockists.

Preparation

Surface Condition: This is a Direct to Metal paint. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from loose rust, scale, grease, and other contaminants.

Rust Treatment: If the metal is heavily rusted, it is highly recommended to apply a rust converter before painting with Hammershield.

Priming:
* General: Priming is not strictly required unless the surface is in poor condition or superior rust inhibition is needed.
* Compatibility Warning: This product is not compatible for use over Carboxide primers. It should only be used over Palatine Fast Dry Metal Primer if a primer is used.

Previously Painted Surfaces: For previously painted metal or wood, light sanding is recommended to create a “key” for the new paint.

Testing: Perform a test patch (approx. 100x100mm) before full application to ensure compatibility and color satisfaction.

Application

Environmental Conditions: Do not apply when the ambient temperature is below 10°C. Optimal results are achieved in warm, dry conditions.

Methods: Suitable for application by brush or spray.

Coats: The fast-drying formula allows for multiple coats to be applied in a single day.

Post-Application: Keep the coated area dry for at least 24 hours after application.

Colours Available: Black, Silver, White.

Pack Sizes: 500 ml, 1 Litre, 2.5 Litre, 5 Litre.
