Preparation: On previously painted surfaces, ensure it is sound and non-flaking. Abrade the surface preferably by mechanical abrasion to provide a “key” and maximise adhesion of the subsequent coating. For porous unpainted mature concrete, firstly apply a coat of Pliocem Concrete Sealer.
For a more economical approach on porous surfaces, thin the first coat of Floor Paint with 10-15% of White Spirit and one neat coat. For wood, apply a clear universal preservative to untreated timber. For metal, prime with Palatine Anti Corrosive Metal Primer.
Mixing: Stir the paint with a drill stirrer or wooden baton at least 2” wide. Continue to stir during application to avoid avoid settling and maintain consistency of the anti-slip additive.
Application: Apply by brush or short / medium pile roller. Avoid applying the paint to thickly to avoid delaying drying times. The second and subsequent coats can be applied as soon as the first / preceding coat is dry usually after 12-24 hours, and should be applied within 5 days.
If more than 5 days elapse, the first coat should be lightly abraded before the second coat is applied. Avoid power washing the surface for 7 days.
Carbogrip Exterior Anti Slip Paint is touch dry in 3 hours and hard dry in 24 hours.
Expected Coverage: 8 to 10m² per litre
The correct solvent for thinning and cleaning for this product is white spirit. Do not thin.

Q: Can Carbogrip Anti Slip Paint be used on both new and previously painted wooden surfaces?
A: Yes, Carbogrip is suitable for both new and previously painted wood. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and lightly abraded for best adhesion. Remove any loose paint before application.
Q: How does the “anti-slip” feature work?
A: The paint contains specially controlled texturing agents (micronized waxes) that are dispersed throughout the liquid. Once dry, these create a uniform, roughened surface that increases traction for footwear.
Q: Is Carbogrip Anti Slip Paint safe for pets and children once dry?
A: Yes, once fully cured, Carbogrip Anti Slip Paint is safe for areas accessed by pets and children. Ensure the coating is completely dry before allowing foot traffic or play to prevent any risk of slipping or marking.
Q: Can I use this on newly laid concrete?
A: No. New concrete should be allowed to dry for at least four weeks in the summer (or six weeks in the winter) before painting to ensure the moisture levels are low enough for the paint to bond.
Q: Is it resistant to sunlight and rain?
A: Yes, it is a solvent-borne coating designed to be weather-resistant and UV-stable, meaning it will protect your surfaces and maintain its colour even when exposed to sunlight and rain.
