Product Description

Wood Floor Paint is an alkyd paint designed for use on wooden floors in interior and exterior environments. It provides a decorative satin finish to the floor. Protecting it from the general wear of foot traffic, such as scuffs and scratches. Our wood floor paint is an ideal way to revitalise your wooden flooring or update the design of a room without having to pay out for new flooring.

Palatine Paints is a manufacturer of paints, not just a supplier. This means we have full knowledge of the paint and it’s properties and can answer any questions you may have before ordering to ensure our wooden floor paint suits your needs.

We can also tint custom colours to match your vision for your wooden flooring. For more information on this service, please contact us through web chat, phone or email.

If you’re looking for a paint for your wooden decking, we also supply a transparent finish decking oil, available in a range of colours that will allow the grain to be seen through the finish for a more natural look.

Wood Floor Paint is also available in white and a range of other colours.

For full technical, safety and application details, please see the data sheets.

Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently.

Preparation

Surface Soundness: On previously painted surfaces, ensure all flaking or loose material is completely removed.

Abrasion: Abrade the surface (preferably using mechanical abrasion) to provide a “key.” This is essential to maximize the adhesion of the paint.

Cleaning:
* For surfaces with oil or grease, clean thoroughly with a universal degreaser.
* For surfaces with mould, mildew, algae, or fungi, use Barrettine Mould & Mildew Cleaner.

Bare Wood: If applying to new or bare wood, the paint acts as its own primer, but at least two undiluted coats are required for maximum performance.

Application

Mixing: Stir the paint thoroughly using a drill stirrer or a wooden baton at least 2 inches wide. Continue to stir periodically during application to prevent the product from thickening.

Method: Apply using a brush, roller, or spray. Work the paint well into the surface of the wood.

Layering: Avoid applying the paint too thickly, as this will result in significantly delayed drying times.

Re-coating Schedule:
* The second coat should be applied as soon as the first is dry, typically between 12–24 hours.
* The subsequent coat must be applied within 5 days.
* If more than 5 days pass before the second coat is applied, you must lightly sand (abrade) the first coat again to ensure the next layer sticks.

Curing: Do not power wash the painted surface for at least 7 days after application.

Colours Available: Black (Satin finish). For other colours, see the standard Wood Floor Paint range which includes a variety of RAL and British Standard options.

Pack Sizes: 1 Litre, 2.5 Litre, and 5 Litre.
