Product Description

Wood Floor Paint is an alkyd paint designed for use on wooden floors in interior and exterior environments. It provides a decorative satin finish to the floor. Protecting it from the general wear of foot traffic, such as scuffs and scratches. Our wood floor paint is an ideal way to revitalise your wooden flooring or update the design of a room without having to pay out for new flooring.

Palatine Paints is a manufacturer of paints, not just a supplier. This means we have full knowledge of the paint and it’s properties and can answer any questions you may have before ordering to ensure our wooden floor paint suits your needs.

We can also tint custom colours to match your vision for your wooden flooring. For more information on this service, please contact us through web chat, phone or email.

If you’re looking for a paint for your wooden decking, we also supply a transparent finish decking oil, available in a range of colours that will allow the grain to be seen through the finish for a more natural look.

Wood Floor Paint is also available in black and a range of other colours.

For full technical, safety and application details, please see the data sheets.

Preparation

Surface Condition: All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from loose or flaking material, dust, and grease.

Previously Painted Surfaces: Ensure the surface is sound. Remove any flaking material and abrade the surface (preferably using mechanical abrasion) to provide a “key” and maximize adhesion.

Contamination: For surfaces with mould, mildew, or algae, use a specialist cleaner (like Barrettine Mould & Mildew Cleaner). For oil or grease, use a universal degreaser.

Mixing: Stir the paint thoroughly using a drill stirrer or a wooden baton at least 2 inches wide. Continue stirring during application to prevent the product from thickening.

Application

Methods: Apply by brush, roller, or spray. Work the paint well into the wooden surface.

Technique: Avoid applying the paint too thickly, as this can delay drying times.

Coats:
* A minimum of two undiluted coats is recommended on bare wood for maximum performance.
* The second and subsequent coats can be applied once the preceding coat is dry (usually after 12–24 hours).
* Subsequent coats should be applied within 5 days. If more than 5 days pass between coats, the surface must be lightly abraded before the next coat is applied.

Post-Application: Avoid power washing the painted surface for at least 7 days to allow it to fully cure.

Colours Available: White (Satin finish). For other colours, see the standard Wood Floor Paint range which includes a variety of RAL and British Standard options.

Pack Sizes: 1 Litre, 2.5 Litre, and 5 Litre.

Coverage / Drying Times

(Based on standard conditions of 20°C)

Surface Dry: 3 hours (Touch dry).

Hard Dry: 24 hours.
