Product Description

Palatine Professional Satin Tile Paint is a solvent based paint with increased adhesion strength compared to our professional satin paint. Due to this, the tile paint can be applied directly to tiled surfaces.

This paint is ideal for use in kitchens and bathrooms, where tiled walls are often a highlight of the room. Our satin tile paint can be used to recoat tired tiles, or update their look with a fresh colour. You can use tile paint to redesign a room without needing to replace the existing tiles.

In addition to the colours shown here, we also match to RAL Classic, BS 4800 and BS 361C colours. For more information on this service, including prices, please contact our team.

Our friendly team is available to contact by phone or web chat during our opening hours, or by email, where overnight messages are replied to the next working morning. As our satin tile paint is a paint we manufacture, we are able to answer any technical questions you may have. This includes topics such as surface and coating compatibility, preparation and application.

We also supply this paint in a gloss finish that provides an eye-catching high sheen to the surface. For kitchen and bathroom decorating, we also have a cupboard paint available in a gloss or satin finish and a range of colours.

Please note: The colours shown here are only a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently.

Preparation

Surface Condition: Ensure tiles are clean, dry, and entirely free from dust, oil, grease, and surface contaminants.

Cleaning: Thoroughly degrease the tiles before painting. In high-moisture areas like bathrooms, ensure any mould or mildew is treated and removed.

Previously Painted Surfaces: Ensure the existing coating is sound and non-flaking. If the surface has been previously painted, lightly abrade (sand) the first coat to ensure a good “key” for the new paint.

Priming: No primer is required for direct application to sound, non-flaking tiled surfaces, as this paint is engineered with increased adhesion strength.

Environmental Conditions: For best results, apply in warm, dry conditions with a minimum ambient temperature of 10°C.

Application

Mixing: Stir the paint thoroughly with a drill stirrer or a wooden batten (at least 2 inches wide). Continue to stir occasionally during application to prevent thickening.

Methods:
* Brush/Roller: Apply an even coat and work it well into the surface.
* Spray: Can be applied via spray; if thinning is required for this method, use Palatine White Spirit.

Coats:
* Avoid applying the paint too thickly, as this can delay drying times.
* A second coat can be applied once the first is dry (usually after 12–24 hours).
* It is recommended to apply subsequent coats within 5 days. If more than 5 days pass between coats, the first coat should be lightly sanded before proceeding.

Curing: Keep the newly painted area dry for at least 24 hours following application.

Colours Available: 3 Standard, BS 381C, BS4800 and Ral Classic range.

Pack Sizes: 1 Litre, 2.5 Litre, 5 Litre.

Coverage / Drying Times

Surface Dry: 3 hours

Hard Dry: 24 hours

Overcoat: after 16 hours. Keep coated areas dry for a minimum of 24 hours following application. Please note, drying times will be extended at low temperatures. Do not apply when ambient temperature falls below 10ºC

Theoretical Coverage: 12 – 14m² per litre.

(Coverage rate can be affected by such variables as type and condition of substrate, type of application equipment and individual method of application.)

Thinning and Cleaning

Thinning: Use Palatine White Spirit.

Cleaning: Clean all equipment immediately after use with Palatine White Spirit.

If using more than one batch of the same colour, intermix before use.
