Creosolve Creosote Substitute is available in Light Brown and Dark Brown in 4L and 20L sizes. Barrettine Creocote was a previous creosote substitute and this has now been superseded by Barrettine Creosolve.

Creosolve Compulsory Safety Hazard Warning
Because of ongoing safety regulations, in October 2020 an additional H351 safety hazard warning “Suspected of causing cancer” had to be included with the Creocote product. This is because of a small level of diesel content in the product (which in fact poses little more risk than filling a car fuel tank).
New Safer Product Created
As a company Barrettine strives to offer high quality products with minimum associated risk and has worked hard on creating an alternative, safer product. The newly formulated CreoSolve comes with the same efficacy and characteristics of Creocote but with improved safety and of course the removal of the H351 warning.
Barrettine CreoSolve® is a lower hazard alternative to traditional Creosote and some other Creosote replacement wood treatments. Similar physical/water repellence/application characteristics of traditional Creosote but contains no biocide. An oil-based, bitumen and wax treatment for the protection of exterior timbers such as fence panels & fence posts etc. This product is not suitable for decking or exterior wooden furniture.

Ensure wood to be treated is dry, free from dirt and repellent coatings such as paint or varnish (remove and sand down as required).
Apply product via brush or spray in suitable conditions. (Make sure weather conditions are dry and still).
If several containers are to be used mix/match before use as colours can vary from batch to batch.
Clean equipment with Palatine White Spirit.
– Drying times 24-48 hours.
– Coverage 1 litre to 6-8 sq metres per coat.
Apply 2 coats for best results to bare or stained wood, not painted.
