MarineGrip Anti-Slip Paint is a single pack coating designed for use in marine areas and on boat decks. It can be applied to prepared and primed wood, metal, concrete and GRP surfaces.
The anti slip additive in the paint provides much more grip than standard coatings, making it ideal for use in areas where safety is a concern, or surfaces exposed to significant rainfall. These includes steps and stairs, access ramps for boats, doorways, disabled ramps and exterior walkways.
As a marine coating, MarineGrip is able to withstand long term exposure to both the weather and water, as well as resisting everyday wear such as scuffs, knocks and scratches.
As a manufacturer of paints, we are able to provide a greater level of service than most other paint suppliers. We have full technical knowledge of our paints and can provide advice on compatibility with surfaces and coatings, application and more through web chat, phone or email.
We also provide a custom colour tinting service, allowing us to produce a much wider range of colours than those shown here. If you would like more details on this service, please contact us and we will be happy to help you find the ideal colour for your requirements.
Preparation: On previously painted surfaces, ensure any flaking material is removed and the surface is sound. Abrade the surface preferably by mechanical abrasion to provide a “key” and maximise adhesion of the subsequent coating. For surfaces contaminated with mould, mildew, algae and fungi use Barrettine Mould & Mildew Cleaner. For surfaces contaminated with oil & grease remove with a universal degreaser.
On wooden surfaces, apply Boat & Barge Marine Undercoat as a first coat. For metal surfaces, use Boat & Barge Marine Anti Corrosive Primer. For use on cured concrete, first apply Palatine Acid Etch for Floors, followed by Pliocem Concrete Sealer.
Mixing: Stir the paint with a drill stirrer or wooden baton at least 2” wide. Continue to stir during application to avoid avoid settling and maintain consistency of the anti-slip additive.
Application: Apply by brush or short / medium pile roller. Avoid applying the paint to thickly to avoid delaying drying times. The second and subsequent coats can be applied as soon as the first / preceding coat is dry usually after 12-24 hours, and should be applied within 5 days.
If more than 5 days elapse, the first coat should be lightly abraded before the second coat is applied. Avoid power washing the surface for 7 days.
MarineGrip Anti-Slip Paint is touch dry in 3 hours and hard dry in 24 hours.
Expected Coverage: 8 to 10m² per litre
For cleaning, use white spirit. Do not thin.
For full technical, safety and application details, please refer to the data sheets available for download.
The correct solvent for thinning and cleaning for this product is Palatine White Spirit
Surface Condition: Ensure the surface is sound, clean, dry, and free from any dust, oil, grease, and salt contamination.
Previously Painted Surfaces: Ensure any flaking material is removed and the surface is sound. Abrade the surface (preferably by mechanical abrasion) to provide a “key” and maximize adhesion of the subsequent coating.
Contamination: For surfaces contaminated with mould, mildew, algae, or fungi, use Barrettine Mould & Mildew Cleaner. For oil and grease, remove with a universal degreaser.
Substrate Priming:
* Wood: Apply Boat & Barge Marine Undercoat as a first coat.
* Metal: Use Boat & Barge Marine Anti-Corrosive Primer.
* Cured Concrete: Apply Palatine Acid Etch for Floors, followed by Pliocem Concrete Sealer.
Testing: Always carry out a test patch (approx. 100mm x 100mm) before full application to ensure compatibility with previous coatings and the substrate.
Mixing: Stir the paint thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes before use using a drill stirrer or a wooden batten at least 50mm (2”) wide.
Agitation: Continue to stir the paint periodically during application to prevent the anti-slip aggregate from settling at the bottom, ensuring a consistent texture.
Methods: Apply by brush or a short-to-medium pile solvent-resistant roller.
Technique: Avoid applying the paint too thickly, as excessive film thickness will cause through-drying problems and delay drying times.
Thinning: Do not thin. This product is designed to be applied at full strength to maintain the suspension of the anti-slip additive.
Coating System: Two undiluted coats are the minimum recommendation for optimal protection and grip.
Overcoating Window: Apply the second coat as soon as the first is dry (usually 12–24 hours). The second coat should be applied within 5 days. If more than 5 days elapse, the first coat must be lightly abraded before the second is applied.
Conditions: Ensure the temperature is above the dew point during application to avoid contamination. Apply in warm (minimum 10°C), dry conditions.
Curing: Avoid power washing or heavy cleaning of the surface for at least 7 days after application to allow for a full cure.
Colours Available: Buttermilk, Light Grey, Light Ivory, Black, Red, White. (Custom colour tinting is also available).
Pack Sizes: 1 Litre, 2.5 Litre, 5 Litre.
(Based on standard conditions of 20°C)
Surface Dry: 3 hours.
Hard Dry: 24 hours.
Overcoat: 12–24 hours. (Subsequent coats should be applied within 5 days; if longer, the surface must be lightly abraded). Avoid power washing the surface for at least 7 days to allow full curing.
Theoretical Coverage: 8 – 10m² per litre.
(Coverage rate can be affected by such variables as type and condition of substrate, type of application equipment and individual method of application.)
Thinning: Do not thin.
Cleaning: Clean all equipment immediately after use with Palatine White Spirit.
If using more than one batch of the same colour, intermix before use.

Recently got a tin of satin black anti slip deck paint, and its absolutely awesome stuff, covering a multitude of sins, with a perfect finish.
Its better than Raptor paint!
I can send you before and after pictures of Vera, my 40 year old Landy, it looks amazing.

Ordered the paint in light grey. Nice paint, lots of anti slip grit in there, just need to give it a good stir before applying.
