Bright zinc cold galvanising spray paint is a fast drying, rust inhibiting, weldable primer spray for touch up and repairs. Resistant to spray from salt water. Ideal for protecting bare iron and steel to reduce the effects of corrosion. Used on agricultural buildings, machinery, guttering and pipework. It is also used for the protection of chassis and heavy machinery.
For larger areas see also Carbogalv Cold Galvanising Zinc Rich Primer. Not sure whether to use bright zinc cold galvanising spray paint? Take a look at our metal primers blog
Please note: This primer should not be used on surfaces that have been treated with phosphoric acid.
Cold galvanising spray is used to protect metal surfaces, particularly iron and steel, from corrosion and oxidation. Here are some key reasons why you might need to apply it:
Corrosion Protection: The zinc in the spray acts as a sacrificial anode, meaning it corrodes instead of the underlying metal, thereby protecting it from rust and deterioration.
Repair and Maintenance: It’s ideal for touching up or repairing damaged galvanised surfaces, such as those affected by welding, cutting, or grinding.
Cost-Effective: Using cold galvanising spray can be more economical than replacing metal structures or components that have corroded.
Durability: The zinc coating provides long-lasting protection, even in harsh environments like marine or industrial settings
Our selection of topcoat sprays serves multiple functions, from enhancing aesthetics to providing robust protection for industrial applications
General: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contamination, rust, and grease.
Compatibility Note: This primer should not be used on surfaces that have been treated with phosphoric acid.
Agitation: Shake the can well for approximately 2–3 minutes before use, ensuring the agitator ball is heard moving freely.
Technique: * Spray lightly from a distance of approximately 6–8 inches.
* Apply light, even coats.
Heavy Duty Use: Apply several coats for maximum protection.
Maintenance During Use: Shake the container occasionally throughout the application process.
After Use: To prevent the nozzle from blocking, invert the can and spray briefly until only clear gas comes out (clearing the valve).
Overspray: Use Palatine White Spirit for any accidental overspray cleanup.
Usage: Suitable as both a rust-inhibiting primer and a finish coat for touch-ups and repairs. It is also weldable.
Pack Sizes: 400ml Aerosol.
(Based on standard conditions of 20°C)
Surface Dry: 30 minutes (before handling).
Hard Dry: 1 – 2 hours (depending on film thickness).
Overcoat: Allow 15 minutes between light coats.
Theoretical Coverage: 2m² per can.
Thinning: Not applicable (Supplied ready-for-use in aerosol form).
Cleaning: After use, invert the can and spray briefly until the valve is clear. Use Palatine White Spirit for any accidental overspray cleanup.
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from rust/grease. Shake well for 2–3 minutes before use. Apply in light, even coats from 6–8 inches. Do not use on surfaces treated with phosphoric acid.
If using more than one batch of the same colour, intermix before use.
Q: What is the main purpose of the Bright Zinc Cold Galvanising Spray?
A: This spray is used to protect metal surfaces from rust by providing a coating of zinc that acts like a barrier against the weather.
Q: How does this spray stop rust from forming?
A: The high zinc content in the spray protects the metal underneath by sacrificing itself to prevent corrosion, even if the surface gets scratched.
Q: Is this product suitable for use on cars?
A: Yes, it is frequently used on vehicle parts, trailers, and exhaust components to provide a long-lasting protective layer against road salt and water.
Q: Can this spray be used on outdoor structures?
A: Yes, it is highly weather-resistant and is commonly used on outdoor railings, gates, and industrial pipes to prevent rusting.
Q: How do I keep the nozzle from getting blocked after I am done?
A: When you finish your project, turn the can upside down and spray for a second or two until only clear gas comes out to clear the valve.
