Product Description
ProXL waterbased rust remover is a rust treatment for various metal surfaces, including parts of cars and other vehicles and machinery. It works fast to restore the surface and reusable, allowing one container to be used for many parts or items.
The formula of Waterbased rust remover is non-toxic, non-flammable and non-corrosive. This makes it safer to handle and use that most alternative treatments. The use process is also as simple as submerging the rusted items or parts, with no sanding or scrubbing required. Please see the datasheets for full technical and safety information.

Once treated, items and parts can be primed with our Carboxide Metal Primer. This primer has anti-corrosive properties, preventing rust from returning to the surface. For automotive parts and projects, we also have a chassis paint and a coach enamel available in many colours.
This rust treatment is available in 1 litre and 5 litre sizes.
1. Remove large bits of rust or broken paint with a stiff wire brush, remove any oil or grime and give it a rinse with water.
2. If possible, submerge in the rust remover and leave for between 1 hour and 24 hours dependent on metal type and severity of rust. You can also fill rusty containers or fuel tanks and remove corrosion from inside.
3. Shake occasionally to speed the process up. Increasing the heat up to 40°c also helps to speed the reaction up.
4. For large parts, lay paper towels or rags soaked in rust remover over the rusty parts. Keep the soaked rags in direct contact with the rust for as long as possible. Repeat where necessary.

This product does not present any particular risk, provided it is handled in accordance with current occupational hygiene and safety practice. First-aid measures after inhalation: Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. First aid measures after skin contact: Wash skin with plenty of water. First aid measures after eye contact: Rinse eyes with water as a precaution. First-aid measures after ingestion: Call a doctor if you feel unwell, Keep out of the reach of children.
Disposal
Completely emptied cans should be put in recycling skips or appropriate container. Cans which are not empty should be disposed off as special refuse.

Apply the product liberally to the end grain and allow it to be absorbed. The ends of the timber can also be stood in Cut End Preserver for an hour to allow the product to deeply penetrate.
Application method: Amateur: BRUSH AND ROLLER. Professional: BRUSH, DIP AND ROLLER.
Protect environment (e.g. Soil, plants, aquatic environment) from splashes.
Amateur / Professional uses: Shake Well. Apply using a synthetic brush designed for oil based products, spreading out thinly and evenly, ensure end grain is thoroughly treated along with cut and drilled areas. Reseal container after use. It is recommended that a minimum of 2 coats are applied depending on wood species and surface characteristics. Allow 6–12 hours drying time (touch dry) between coats. Application of successive coats will provide a darker finish and on smooth wood a higher sheen finish. If using the Clear Preserver in conjunction with a stain / wood dye it is recommended to apply the colourant before the Preserver, test effect on an off-cut initially. Before use, test a small inconspicuous area with all products to be used, to ensure a satisfactory final finish and compatibility. Do not use if ambient temperature is below 5°C or humidity is above 80%. Clean tools immediately after use with White Spirit or Brush Cleaner.
