Surface Cleaning: Ensure the area is free from dust, oil, grease, old coatings, and other surface contaminants.
Surface Condition: All surfaces must be clean and dry. Remove any loose or flaking material, rust, and scale.
Rubbing Down: For previously gloss-painted surfaces, rub down with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly to ensure the new paint can bond.
Priming:
* Steel/Ferrous Metal: Prime bare surfaces with Palatine Anti-Corrosive Metal Primer.
* Wood/General Surfaces: Use Palatine Carboxide All Purpose Primer/Undercoat.
* Non-Ferrous Metals: Use Etching Primer.
Testing: It is recommended to perform a test patch (approx. 100x100mm) to check for compatibility with previous coatings and to confirm the final colour.
Environmental Conditions: Best results are achieved in warm (minimum 10°C) and dry conditions.
Mixing: Stir thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes before use. A drill stirrer or a wooden batten at least 25mm wide is ideal.
Method: Apply an even coat using a brush or roller.
* Smooth Surfaces: Use a short to medium-pile roller.
* Textured Surfaces: Use a long-pile roller.
Spray Application: If using airless or conventional spray, dilute by no more than 10% with Palatine White Spirit. Apply thin coats and allow each to dry before applying the next.
Second Coat: Once the first coat is dry, a second coat can be applied at full strength to prolong the performance of the finish.
Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently. Sample pots are available to order upon request. Always carry out a test patch (approximately 100x100mm) before full application to ensure compatibility with previous coatings and the substrate, and to ensure the colour achieved meets your requirements. Failure to do so will result in a product refund claim not being accepted.
