Product Description

Roofing Felt  Adhesive is a homogenous solution of bitumen, fillers and fibres in solvent. It is used as a whole or lap adherent for mineral materials. For bonding all types of roofing felts to metal, concrete, roofing felt, wood such as shed felt adhesive and sealing roofing laps. Can also be used for gritting.

  • Suitable surfaces: Tar and Bitumen based surfaces such as mineral felt, Wood, ferrous metal, and masonry
  • Drying time Surface dry in 3 – 5 hours
  • Best results are obtained in warm (minimum 10°C), dry conditions
  • Mix thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes using a drill stirrer. A wooden batten at least 25mm wide is also ideal

Theoretical Coverage: 2m² per litre depending on surface to be treated. It is recommended to apply 2 coats.

Application: Apply by stiff brush, mop or squeegee.

Preparation

Surface Check: Ensure the area is clean, dry, and free from any loose debris or dust.

Batch Consistency: If you are using more than one batch of the adhesive, intermix them before starting to ensure a uniform consistency.

Mixing: Stir the adhesive thoroughly for about 2 minutes using a drill stirrer or a wooden batten at least 25mm wide.

Conditions: Only apply when the ambient temperature is at least 10°C. Avoid application in wet or extremely humid weather.

Application

Tools: Apply using a stiff brush, mop, or squeegee.

Layering: For best results, it is recommended to apply 2 coats.

Method (Bonding): It can be used for “whole bonding” (coating the entire surface) or “lap bonding” (sealing the overlaps of the mineral roofing felt).

Method (Gritting): If using for gritting, spread a layer over the roof surface and press stone chippings into the wet adhesive to provide UV protection.

Curing: Keep the coated areas completely dry for a minimum of 24 hours following the application.

Colours Available: Black.

Pack Sizes: 1 Litre, 2.5 Litre, 5 Litre, 20 Litre, and 25 Litre.

Coverage / Drying Times

(Best results obtained in warm, dry conditions minimum 10°C)

Surface Dry: 3 – 5 hours (Note: High humidity or low temperatures may extend this to 8 hours).

Hard Dry: Keep coated areas dry for a minimum of 24 hours following application.

Overcoat: After 24 hours.

Theoretical Coverage: Approximately 2m² per litre (depending on the substrate porosity and application method).

Thinning and Cleaning

Thinning: This product is supplied ready for use; however, if required, use Palatine White Spirit.

Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with Palatine White Spirit.

If using more than one batch of the same colour, intermix before use.
