A high quality top coat decking oil with anti-slip properties, useful for improving grip on decking, steps and handrails.
£23.21 – £53.37Price range: £23.21 through £53.37
Barrettine Anti Slip Decking Oil is a non slip top coat decking oil, useful for improving grip on decking and steps in addition to handrails. It has a low sheen finish and contains UV stabilisers, slowing the process of wood turning grey. It also protects decking from flaking, cracking and mould and fungal attacks. For a smooth option with colours available, see Barrettine All-In-One Decking Oil.
Please note: This Decking Oil is designed to be applied over an existing coating, such as a wood treatment or smooth decking oil.
Ensure wood to be treated is dry, free from dirt and repellent coatings such as paint or varnish (remove and sand down as required).
Recommend using a biocidal wash such as Knockout Decking and Patio Cleaner prior to treatment. Allow a minimum of 48 hours to dry.
The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the timber being treated. We always recommend carrying out a test area first in an inconspicuous area to make sure you are happy with the final dried colour.
Brush or spray in suitable conditions. (Make sure weather conditions are dry and still).
Coverage 1 coat up to 8 sq metres/litre of smooth timber and up to 5 sq metres on rough sawn timber, 2 coats recommended.
Drying times, normally 24-48 hours in ambient temperature. Apply second coat after 48 hours.
Clean equipment with Palatine Brush Cleaner or White Spirit.
Q: Is it better to oil or stain decking?
A: Both oil and stain treatments offer benefits for decking depending on your needs:
1. Decking Oils: Typically penetrate deeper into wood, providing nourishment and long-lasting protection. Oils help repel water, prevent cracking and splitting, and often contain UV inhibitors to reduce fading. Products like Barrettine All-in-One Decking Oil also include biocides to protect against mould and mildew, making them easier to maintain as they won’t peel or flake.
2. Decking Stains: Tend to provide a coloured finish while still offering some protection. They generally sit on the surface and can add a richer, more consistent colour. However, stains might require more frequent maintenance as they are more prone to peeling compared to oils.
Combining both, if you desire deep nourishment with a splash of colour, you might consider a coloured decking oil, which gives you the benefits of oil with the aesthetic appeal of stain.
Q: Does decking oil stop mould?
A: Decking oil can help prevent mould growth, but it does not completely stop it. Products like our Decking Oil All-In-One Treatment and Anti-Slip Decking Oil contain surface biocides that help protect the timber against mould and algae. For best results in treating existing mould, using a biocide cleaner such as Knockout Driveway, Decking & Patio Cleaner before applying the decking oil is recommended.
