Product Description

Give your wooden floors a durable, decorative, and safe finish with Palatine Paints’ Anti Slip Floor Paint for Wood. Specially formulated for all types of wooden surfaces—including floorboards, decking, stairs, and both interior and exterior wooden walkways—this resin-rich coating delivers excellent slip resistance and long-lasting protection against scuffs, scratches, and general wear from foot traffic.

Key Features

  • Non-Slip Satin Finish: Fine aggregates create a textured, slip-resistant surface to help reduce the risk of slips, especially in high-traffic or wet areas.
  • Versatile Application: Suitable for both indoor and outdoor wooden floors—ideal for workshops, hallways, porches, and more.
  • Durability: Once cured, the coating is hard-wearing, abrasion-resistant, and easy to clean, making it perfect for areas where safety and longevity are priorities.
  • Range of Colours: Available in subtle tones to blend in or high-visibility shades for added safety. Custom colour matching is also available.
  • Coverage & Drying: Covers 12–14m² per litre. Touch dry in 3 hours, hard dry in 24 hours. Allow 24 hours before light use and up to 72 hours for full cure.

In addition to these colours, we can also tint custom colours to match your vision for your wooden flooring. For more information on this service, please contact us through web chat, phone or email.

If you’re looking for a paint for your wooden decking, we also supply a transparent finish decking oil, available in a range of colours that will allow the grain to be seen through the finish for a more natural look.

This floor paint is not suitable for use on laminate flooring.

Preparation

Surface Integrity: Ensure the wooden surface is sound, clean, and completely dry.

Bare Wood: For bare or porous wood, it is recommended to apply a suitable wood primer first to ensure the best possible adhesion and long-term durability. Any surface defects or open joints should be repaired using a suitable wood filler for the floor.

Previously Painted Surfaces: Previously coated, waxed, polished or oiled floors must be cleaned and fully sanded back to bare wood using appropriate floor sanding equipment before using the wood floor paint (Anti-Slip). When using on previously over coated wood that has not been sanded back properly, we cannot guarantee adhesion. Ensure all dust and debris are removed before painting.

Furniture Protection: If the floor is indoor, it is recommended to use felt pads on the bottom of furniture to prevent damage once the job is finished.

Application

Colour Consistency: If using multiple tins of the same colour, intermix them in a larger container first to ensure an even shade across the entire floor.

Agitation: Stir the paint thoroughly to ensure the fine anti-slip aggregates are evenly distributed throughout the resin.

Technique: Apply an even coat using a brush or roller.

Layering: For best results, plan for at least two coats.

Recoat Window: Apply the second coat within 5 days of the first. If more than 5 days elapse between coats, you must lightly abrade (sand) the first coat before applying the next layer.

Curing Protection: Avoid power washing the surface for at least 7 days after application.

Drying Time: The paint will reach a hard dry state in 24 hours, but allow 72 hours for a full cure before subjecting it to heavy use.
