Surface Preparation
On previously painted surfaces, ensure it is sound and non-flaking. Abrade the surface to provide a “key” and maximise adhesion of the subsequent coating.
Mixing
Stir the paint with a drill stirrer or wooden baton at least 2” wide. Continue to stir during application.
Application
Apply a nice even coat by brush or roller. Avoid applying the paint too thickly to avoid delaying drying times. The second coat can be applied as soon as the first coat is hard dry after 6-24 hours.
Preceding Coat
For bare metal treat the surface with a Mordant Solution (T Wash) followed by Carboxide Anti-Corrosive Metal Primer
Application Methods
Brush, Roller
Avoid excessive film thickness as this will cause through-drying problems
Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently. Sample pots are available to order upon request. Always carry out a test patch (approximately 100x100mm) before full application to ensure compatibility with previous coatings and the substrate, and to ensure the colour achieved meets your requirements. Failure to do so will result in a product refund claim not being accepted.

Q: What is Palatine Paint for Copper Pipes?
A: This is a premium oil-based paint specifically formulated for excellent adhesion to copper surfaces. It provides a durable, long-lasting finish that transforms the look of exposed pipes while protecting them from environment factors.
Q: Why do I need a specialized paint for copper?
A: Copper is a non-ferrous metal that naturally oxidizes over time, often developing a green patina (verdigris). Standard paints may peel or flake off copper; this specialized formula is designed to grip the smooth surface and withstand the temperature fluctuations common in plumbing.
Q: Can it be used on hot water pipes?
A: Yes. It is formulated to be durable and resistant to the heat and moisture variations found in plumbing and radiator systems.
Q: What types of finishes / colours are available for copper pipe paint?
A: Depending on your product line, you can offer finishes like satin, gloss, matt, or metallic. You may also offer colour-matching / custom tints (e.g. to match radiators, walls, or décor). Just be sure to note that tinted or bespoke versions are often non-returnable, as they are mixed to order.
Q: Is it safe, washable, and durable in heating / plumbing environments?
A: Yes — your copper pipe paint should be formulated to be durable, washable, and resistant to moisture / humidity found in plumbing areas. It should also perform well under temperature variations, especially for pipes that carry hot water or run near radiators. With proper priming and application, the finish should last without peeling or discoloration.
