Surface Condition: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, grease, old coatings, and surface contaminants.
Metal Preparation:
* Steelwork: Degrease and remove all rust and scale before painting.
* Bare Steel/Iron: Prime with Palatine Anti-Corrosive Metal Primer or Carboxide All Purpose Primer/Undercoat.
* Non-Ferrous Metals: Use Etching Primer.
Wood & General Surfaces: For a perfect finish, prime bare surfaces with Palatine Carboxide All Purpose Primer/Undercoat.
Previously Painted Surfaces: Rub down previous gloss finishes with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly to provide a “key.”
Environmental Conditions: Best results are obtained in warm (minimum 10°C) and dry conditions.
Test Patch: Always carry out a test patch (approx. 100x100mm) to check colour accuracy and compatibility with the substrate or previous coatings.
Safety: Product is flammable. Use in well-ventilated areas and keep away from heat or open flames.
Mixing: Stir thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes using a drill stirrer or a wooden batten (at least 25mm wide).
Methods:
* Brush/Roller: Apply an even coat. Use a short-to-medium pile roller for smooth surfaces or a long pile roller for textured surfaces.
* Spray: For airless or conventional spray, thin by no more than 10% by volume using Palatine White Spirit. Apply thin coats and allow each to dry before recoating.
Coats: A second coat can be applied at full strength once the first is dry to prolong the life and performance of the coating.
Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently. Sample pots are available to order upon request. Always carry out a test patch (approximately 100x100mm) before full application to ensure compatibility with previous coatings and the substrate, and to ensure the colour achieved meets your requirements.
