Best way to paint kitchen walls
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, grease, etc. Gloss and oil painted surfaces should be washed clean and rubbed down. Powder or flaky surfaces should be primed prior to painting.
On porous surfaces or new work, thin the paint with up to 20% clean water for the first coat (avoid over thinning).
Stir well prior to application.
By brush – load generously and avoid over spreading.
By roller – load generously and apply evenly. A deep pile roller should be used on textured surfaces.
Cleaning: Clean application immediately after use. Use clean cold water.
Q: What makes Palatine’s Kitchen Paint different from standard wall paint?
A: Palatine’s Kitchen Paint is specially formulated to handle the rigours of a kitchen environment. It resists stains, grease, moisture, and daily wear. Its durable, washable finish ensures your kitchen walls stay fresh, even under heavy use.
Q: How many coats do I need, and how long does it take to dry?
A: We recommend applying two coats of Kitchen Paint for optimal coverage and durability. The first coat should be allowed to dry fully before applying the second. Under typical indoor conditions, it becomes touch dry in a few hours and is recoat-ready within 6–8 hours, though actual drying times may vary with humidity, ventilation & temperature.
Q: Are custom colours available, and can I match existing shades?
A: Certainly. Palatine offers wide colour options and custom colour matching (including RAL, British Standard, NCS, etc.). However, note that tinted or bespoke paint colours are non-returnable, since they are made to order.
Q: Is the Kitchen Paint low-VOC, safe for indoor use, and easy to maintain?
A: Yes. This paint is designed to be low in VOCs, making it a safer choice for indoor air quality. Once cured, the surface is wipeable and resistant to stains, making regular cleaning straightforward without damaging the finish. Always ensure good ventilation when applying and curing.
