Bare Concrete:
* Must be at least 4 weeks old with a moisture content under 8%.
* Surface should be free from laitance (weak dusty layer). Very smooth concrete or concrete with laitance should be treated with Acid Etch to provide a key.
* Traces of grease or oil can be removed using Palatine Multi Purpose Thinners.
Power Floated Floors: These require blast treatment or chemical etching as paint has poor adhesion to power floated surfaces.
Previously Painted Surfaces: Thoroughly abrade the surface by sanding to improve adhesion. It is recommended to test compatibility on a small area first.
Wooden Floors: Sand down to remove existing coatings and loose material. Seal any knots with a clear knotting solution. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and dust-free.
Asphalt: New asphalt should be sand-rubbed when laid.
General Conditions: Best results are achieved in warm conditions (minimum 15°C) with a good through-draught. Do not apply below 10°C.
Mixing: Stir thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes using a wide-bladed stirrer (e.g., a wooden batten at least 25mm wide). Do not shake the tin, as this can create air bubbles.
Methods: Apply using a brush and/or a long pile, double-arm roller.
Coating:
* Bare Concrete: Thin the first coat with up to 20% White Spirit to seal the surface. Once dry, apply a second coat at full strength.
* Previously Painted Floors: Apply two thin coats rather than one thick coat for better performance.
* Wood: Ensure the first coat is thoroughly dry before applying a second if required.
Protection: Keep newly coated areas dry for at least 24 hours after application.

Is a primer necessary before applying Carbotread?
On bare or porous surfaces, priming is recommended. For previously painted or sealed surfaces, ensure proper surface preparation and test a small area for adhesion.
Can I use Carbotread outdoors?
Carbotread is primarily formulated for internal floors. For exterior applications please see our exterior floor paint FAQ’s
How do I clean and maintain a Carbotread-coated floor?
Clean with mild detergent and water. Avoid abrasive cleaning methods or harsh chemicals that may damage the surface.
What coverage can I expect per litre?
Coverage is typically 8–10m² per litre, depending on the surface texture and porosity.

I used it on wooden stairs. The coverage was excellent and a delight to apply. It has a high gloss finish, maybe too glossy that is only negative for me

Used this paint in light grey on a wooden bathroom floor which was damaged and badly water stained. The paint went on really well and only required two coats (with no primer needed). So far, the paint seems really hard wearing…the floor has had quite a bit of foot traffic but still looks great.
