2K Epoxy Dust Sealer Matt Finish is a two pack dust sealing coat designed for new or old concrete floors. The sealer is ideal for areas such as warehouses and production spaces, where dust can quickly build on the floor. This coating allows the floor to be more easily cleaned of dust and other regular contaminants, while providing a grey colour to the surface.
Please be aware that as this is a two part coating, there is a limited application time before it begins to cure (around 50 minutes). For this reason, it is important to mix the quantity that can be applied within this time to avoid wastage.
This sealer is part of our 2K floor range, alongside our 2K epoxy primer and 2K epoxy topcoat. If you have any questions about our 2K coatings, please contact us by web chat, phone or email. Our friendly team can answer questions about preparation, application and compatibility, as well as other topics.
We also have a 2K clear gloss dust sealer available. For a clear single pack alternative sealer, see Pliocem Concrete Sealer.
Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently. Sample pots are available to order upon request.
The durability of this epoxy sealer is highly dependent on the quality of the surface preparation.
Mechanical Preparation: The substrate should be prepared using light vacuum shot-blasting or grinding to remove laitance (the weak top layer of concrete) and existing contamination.
Cleaning: The floor must be 100% clean and free from dust, loose particles, oils, fats, grease, old paint, and chemicals.
Repairs: Any structural cracks or surface damage should be filled and remedied prior to application.
Environmental Check: Do not apply the product if the ambient temperature is below 15°C. Ensure the relative air humidity does not exceed 85% during application and curing.
Acclimatisation: Before mixing, allow the Base and Activator components to reach the ambient air and floor temperature.
This is a 2-part chemical cure system with a specific working window.
Mixing Process:
* Stir Component A (Base) for 1–2 minutes.
* Add the entire contents of Component B (Activator) and mix for a further 2–3 minutes using a slow-speed drill and helical spinner.
* Avoid “entraining air” (whipping) to prevent bubbles in the finish.
Thinning (First Coat Only): You may dilute the first coat with up to 10% water to help the sealer penetrate the concrete pores. The second coat must be applied undiluted.
Sieving: After mixing, pour the material into a second container through a fine sieve (<1mm mesh) or paint filter to remove any potential clumps or impurities. Pot Life: Once mixed, you have approximately 50 minutes (at 20°C) to apply the product. Do not mix more than you can use in this time.
Technique: Pour the mixture immediately onto the floor and spread using a roller or rubber squeegee. Maintain a “wet edge” between pours to avoid visible overlap marks.
Avoid Pooling: Do not allow the sealer to puddle in low spots; this will lead to a patchy visual appearance and uneven curing.
Recoating: A second coat is standard. Apply the second layer within 24 hours. If the 24-hour window is exceeded, the first coat must be lightly sanded/abraded to ensure the second coat bonds.
Post-Application: Ensure good air circulation during curing to help water evaporate, but avoid strong drafts, direct sunlight, or high heat, as these can cause “skinning” or rake marks.
Clean Up: Clean all tools and equipment with water immediately after use.
Tip: We recommend the application by equal batch numbers and it is also important to keep a wet edge between two pours of material as they will otherwise be visible.
Colours Available: Light Grey, Mid Grey, Admiralty Grey
Pack Sizes: 20Kg (Supplied as a 2-part system consisting of Base and Activator).
(Based on standard conditions of 20°C)
Surface Dry: Working time is approximately 50 minutes once mixed.
Hard Dry: Suitable for foot traffic in 6 – 8 hours.
Overcoat: Within 24 hours (Note: If the 24-hour window is exceeded, the surface will require light abrasion/sanding).
Please note, drying times will be extended at low temperatures. Do not apply when ambient temperature falls below 15ºC
Theoretical Coverage: 0.10 – 0.15 kg per m² (Approximately 6.5m² – 10m² per kg depending on substrate porosity).
Foot Traffic: 6 – 8 hours at 20ºC
(Coverage rate can be affected by such variables as type and condition of substrate, type of application equipment and individual method of application.)
Thinning: May be diluted with up to 10% water (maximum) for the first coat only to improve penetration. The second coat must be applied undiluted.
Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with water.
Q: What are the main benefits of using this specific epoxy formula?
A: The sealer provides excellent dust suppression and a hard-wearing surface that is easy to clean, while also offering better UV stability than standard epoxy coatings.
Q: In which environments is this sealer best suited?
A: It is specifically engineered for internal use in high-traffic areas such as warehouses, production facilities, garages, workshops, and retail showrooms.
Q: Can the sealer be thinned with water during application?
A: You may dilute the mixture with up to 10% water for the first coat to improve penetration into the concrete, but the second coat must always be applied undiluted.
Q: What is the pot life of the product once the two parts are mixed?
A: Once the base and activator are combined, you have a working time of approximately 50 minutes at 20°C before the product begins to harden in the container.
Q: What causes a patchy or uneven finish once the sealer has dried?
A: Patchiness is typically caused by the product pooling in low spots or drying too quickly due to drafts or direct sunlight during the application process.
