Keypoints:

  • For a more hard wearing surface we always recommend two coats
  • For bare concrete, apply Acid Etch first to remove laitance and provide a key for the paint to adhere.
  • A quick and easy product to apply
  • With good application and flow properties enable brush, roller or spray application
  • Solvent borne, touch dry in 3 hours. Overcoat after 24 hours

Anti Slip texture is the same product as the garage floor with anti slip additives added in, people use this textured finish for floors such as Kennels.

Preparation

Surface Maturity: Do not apply to newly laid concrete. The surface must be “mature”—at least four weeks old with a moisture content of less than 8%.

Cleaning: Ensure the floor is dry and free from dust, oil, or grease.

Smooth/Power Floated Floors: These surfaces typically have poor adhesion for floor paints. They must be blast treated or chemically etched with concrete etching fluid before painting.

Previously Painted Surfaces: Thoroughly abrade the surface by sanding to remove weak or loose material and provide a “key” for the new coating.

Wooden Floors: Sand down to remove existing coatings and loose material. Seal any knots with a clear knotting solution.

Asphalt: New asphalt should be sand-rubbed when laid.

Testing: Always perform a test patch (approx. 100x100mm) to check for compatibility with old coatings and to ensure the colour meets your requirements.

Application

Mixing: Stir thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes using a wide-bladed stirrer (a 25mm wide wooden batten is ideal). If using an anti-slip version, ensure the texturing agent is evenly dispersed.

Environmental Conditions: Best results are achieved in warm (minimum 15°C), dry conditions with a good through-draught. Do not apply if the temperature is below 10°C.

First Coat (Bare Concrete): Dilute the first coat with up to 20% White Spirit. This helps seal the porous concrete surface.

Method: Apply using a brush and/or a long-pile, double-arm roller. For edges, use a brush for “cutting in.”

Coating Strategy:
* Bare Concrete: Apply the first (diluted) coat, let dry, then apply a second coat at full strength.
* Previously Painted Floors: Apply two thin coats rather than one thick coat to prolong the life of the finish.

Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently. Sample pots are available to order upon request. Always carry out a test patch (approximately 100x100mm) before full application to ensure compatibility with previous coatings and the substrate, and to ensure the colour achieved meets your requirements. Failure to do so will result in a product refund claim not being accepted.

Thank you for your advice on the types of floor paimt we could use for the particular application – classic car storage unit refurbishment.

The big question here is ‘hot tyre pick up. After much thought and bearing in mind the infrequent usage we opted for polyurethane paint. The paint was easy to apply using a roller with a masonry type sleeve. The finish looks brilliant.

Thank you for going through the options.
