Surface Condition: Ensure the area is completely free from dust, oil, grease, old coatings, and surface contaminants. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from loose or flaking material, dust, and millscale.
Previously Painted Surfaces: Rub down previously gloss-painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly.
Priming:
* While often self-priming on prepared surfaces, it is recommended to prime with Palatine All Purpose Primer/Undercoat for a better finish.
* For bare wood, MDF, or laminate, a suitable primer is highly recommended to ensure maximum adhesion and durability.
Testing: Always carry out a test patch (approx. 100x100mm) before full application to ensure compatibility with previous coatings and that the color meets your requirements.
Environmental Conditions: Best results are obtained in warm (minimum 10°C), dry conditions.
Mixing: Stir thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes using a drill stirrer or a wooden batten (at least 25mm wide).
Methods:
* Brush: Use for general application.
* Roller: Use a short to medium pile roller on smooth surfaces and a long pile roller on textured surfaces.
* Spray: For airless or conventional spray, dilute by no more than 10% by volume with Palatine White Spirit. Apply thin coats and allow each to dry before applying subsequent coats.
Coating: Apply an even first coat. Once dried, a second coat can be applied at full strength to prolong the life and performance of the coating.
Post-Application: Keep coated areas dry for a minimum of 24 hours following application.
