Designed specifically for professionals in the painting, plumbing, and maintenance industries. In fact, tradespeople trust it for reliable, high-performance results. Whether you’re prepping surfaces, clearing blockages, or tackling stubborn build up, this product delivers. Its versatility and reliability make it the go-to choice for anyone requiring powerful cleaning, degreasing, neutralisation, or pH control in professional and industrial settings.

What is caustic soda?

Caustic soda is the common name for sodium hydroxide (NaOH). When dissolved in water, it forms a strongly caustic solution with remarkable alkaline properties. You’ll use it where you need powerful cleaning, degreasing, neutralisation, or pH control. Because it can cause severe burns, we supply it exclusively for professional and industrial use, complete with appropriate safety documentation.

Key Applications

This versatile chemical is essential for a wide range of demanding tasks:

  • Professional Paint Stripping: You can rely on caustic soda to break down and remove aged oil-based paints and varnishes from masonry, stone, and metal surfaces effectively.

  • Industrial Degreasing: The formula quickly dissolves fats, oils, and grease from heavy machinery, concrete floors, and workshop equipment, saving you time and effort.

  • Drain & Pipe Maintenance: For commercial drainage systems, caustic soda provides an aggressive solution that clears organic blockages, hair, and fat deposits efficiently.

  • Sanitisation & Cleaning: Beyond surface cleaning, you can employ caustic soda in various industrial processes for pH regulation and deep-cleaning protocols.

Please note: however, this product is supplied for professional and industrial applications only.

Important Usage & Safety Information
Caustic Soda is a highly corrosive substance. To ensure safe and effective use, please adhere to the following guidelines:

Mixing Instructions
Always follow the “Chemical to Water” rule. Never pour water onto Caustic Soda pearls, as this can cause a violent “spit-back” reaction. Instead, slowly add the pearls to a measured volume of cold water while stirring gently.

Recommended PPE
Due to its corrosive nature, the following Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory:

Chemical-resistant gloves (Nitrile or PVC).

Impact-resistant safety goggles or a full face shield.

Protective overalls and sturdy, closed-toe footwear.

Surface Compatibility
Do Not Use on Aluminium: This product reacts violently with aluminium, zinc, and galvanised surfaces — avoid these materials entirely.

Wood Surfaces: Exercise caution on wood, as caustic soda can darken the grain and weaken the fibres if you don’t neutralise it correctly. Follow up with a mild acid (like white vinegar) to restore the surface.

Storage & Handling

Keep the container tightly closed and store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Sodium Hydroxide is hygroscopic, meaning it will absorb moisture from the air and solidify if left exposed. Always keep it out of reach of children and unauthorised personnel.

Product Documents

Q:Is caustic soda the same as sodium hydroxide (NaOH)?

A:Yes. Caustic soda and sodium hydroxide are the same chemical compound (NaOH). “Caustic soda” is the common name; “sodium hydroxide” is the chemical name. Both refer to the same industrial-grade product.

Q:What is caustic soda used for?

A:Industrial-grade caustic soda is used by professionals for industrial degreasing, heavy-duty cleaning, commercial drainage maintenance, water treatment, and manufacturing processes. It’s a trusted solution for trade and industrial applications where reliable, consistent performance is essential.

How do I use caustic soda safely?

A:Caustic soda is highly corrosive and requires proper handling:
PPE: Always wear chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing.
Ventilation: Use in well-ventilated areas; avoid breathing dust or vapours.
Storage: Keep sealed, dry, and away from moisture and incompatible materials.
Handling: Follow all guidance in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.

Q:How do I dilute caustic soda safely?

A:Use suitable PPE and a compatible container, and add caustic soda to water slowly (not the other way round). Mix carefully because the solution can heat up.

Q:Is it suitable for household drains?

A:Yes, it is highly effective for clearing fat and grease blockages, but must be used with extreme caution.

Q:Is it safe on metal or plastic?

A:It can attack aluminium and may affect some metals and plastics. Always check material compatibility and test on a small area first.

Q:How should I store caustic soda?

A:Keep dry in an airtight container and away from moisture in a cool, secure place. Store out of reach of children.

Q:Do you provide an SDS (Safety Data Sheet)?

A:Yes, an SDS is available on request (and/or with the product documentation, depending on your process).
