Trumatt Premium Vinyl Matt Emulsion gives a hard wearing, matt finish suitable for interior walls & ceilings. Achieve a good, even appearance quickly and efficiently due to the high opacity and great coverage qualities of this emulsion. While this emulsion gives a matt finish, we also have a Silk Finish available.
Apply by brush, pad, roller or spray allowing 2 to 4 hours between coats. The British Coatings Federation has some good tips for Surface Preparation here. Not sure whether you need a matt or silk finish? A matt finish has a flatter more velvet-like appearance, while silk has a sheen and reflects the light better.
It’s always wise to use an under coat unless you’re overpainting a similar colour and finish. Our All purpose primer/undercoat is recommended. Before applying emulsion to a previously painted wall or ceiling, ensure it is clean and dust free. Sugar soap is ideal for cleaning previously painted walls. Check for cracks or holes and fill with appropriate filler. Rub down and remove dust. Apply paint in smooth strokes with a roller or brush and allow to dry before applying a second coat.
General Surfaces: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and other contaminants. Sugar soap is recommended for cleaning previously painted walls.
Surface Repairs: Check for cracks or holes and fill with an appropriate filler. Rub down smooth and remove all dust.
Previously Painted Surfaces: Gloss and oil-painted surfaces must be washed clean and rubbed down to provide a “key.”
Flaky or Powdery Surfaces: These should be primed prior to painting. Palatine’s All-Purpose Primer/Undercoat is recommended.
Porous Surfaces/New Work: For the first coat, thin the paint with up to 20% clean water to help seal the surface (avoid over-thinning).
Mixing: Stir the paint well before application. If using more than one batch of the same colour, intermix them first to ensure colour consistency.
Methods: Apply by brush, pad, roller, or spray (both conventional and airless systems).
* Brush/Pad: Load the applicator generously and avoid over-spreading.
* Roller: Load generously and apply evenly. A deep pile roller should be used on textured surfaces.
Technique: Apply in smooth strokes to achieve a high-quality, even appearance.
