Product Description
Barrettine Shellac Sanding Sealer is a sealer for open pores of decorative wooden surfaces. This prepares the surface for a further shellac finish, French polish or wax.
The wood can be dyed before using this sealer. The sealer also contains an additive that allows for sanding once the surface is dry. Allow the surface to dry for 1-2 hours before sanding using a wire wool or very fine paper.
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from grease and dust.
Apply Shellac Sealer with a brush or cloth-often called a ‘rubber’. Apply up to five coats, allowing to dry thoroughly between applications. After the first coat, the surface of the wood may appear roughened – lightly rub down with the finest wire wool or flour paper.
The final coat can be applied using a mixture of 50/50 Methylated Spirit and Shellac Sealer. Clean all brushes etc with Methylated Spirit
