Surface Preparation:
Ensure the surface is free from loose dirt, oil, grease, stone chippings, lichen, moss, and standing water. Treat fungal growth with a fungicidal wash.
Although Carbopol Acrylic Roof Coating can be applied to damp surfaces, dry surfaces will ensure optimum adhesion
Metal surfaces should be wire brushed to remove loose scale or dust.
Fill holes and imperfections with Roofing Mastic, stick down loose felt with Felt Adhesive. Blisters in felt must be cut, dried, re-bonded and sealed.
Priming:
Generally, no priming is needed, but for very porous surfaces, a primer may be used to enhance adhesion.
For most applications Carbopol Acrylic Roof Coating can be applied direct to the substrate without priming. However with very porous surfaces such as concrete or asbestos sheeting, adhesion can be improved by first applying a coat of Bitumen Primer or a stabilising solution.
Application:
Apply to the prepared substrate by brush or roller at the recommended rate of 0.5-1L/m2per coat, ensuring an even coverage free from pinholes. Apply two coats allowing the first to skin before applying the second. The product will fill and bridge cracks up to 3mm wide, but where wider cracks are present these should be covered with a suitable flexible scrim bedded into the coating.
On damp substrates Carbopol Acrylic Roof Coating should first be worked into the surface with a brush or roller to disperse excess moisture and ensure a good bond. Immediately afterwards, further material is then brushed onto the surface.
Cleaning: Clean equipment immediately with white spirit after use.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from ignition sources. Shelf life is a minimum of 12 months in unopened containers.
